Los Angeles - DaRico Jackson announces his weekly “Hairstyling For
Media Workshops.” “For many years I have been asked, how I’ve gotten
into teaching and media work, so I put together these workshops that outline the
skills that help with media hairstyling.
Media hairstyling comes with a specific skill set which is completely different than working in a salon. Also, teaching on a platform or in front of industry peers has another skills set. I created these workshops specifically for those people that want to branch out and add to the longevity of their careers.
These hands on interactive weekly workshops give hair stylists an opportunity to brush up on their skills, learn new techniques and expand their knowledge and network, as well as Q & A with guest industry artists. Through these
workshops, they will become a polished, professional stylist and media hair stylist. “
Week One: Fundamentals
Learn the basic fundamentals of editorial hair styling, understanding the zone, points of reference, how to build a solid foundation based on the hair type, product knowledge and its usage.
Week Two: Advanced Cutting
Learn the 7 principles of haircutting. 1. Consultation 2. Planning your design 3. Hand and body position 4. Hair analysis 5. Sectioning 6. Degrees, angles and elevation 7. Advanced techniques
Learn a new trend every second Monday of the month. (Mannequin provided)
Week Three: Advanced Color Technique
1. Understanding color 2. Mixing 3. Color correction 4. Highlighting and blending 5. Importance of toning 6. Maintaining the hair’s integrity
Week Four: Hair for Media
Working with photographers and directors 1. Learn established
marketing techniques that will increase your clients and revenue in your salon
or freelance business. 2. Kit evaluation 3. Booking and pricing for your type of business. 4. Set Etiquette 5. Script breakdown & call sheets 6. Contract: safeguard methods of ensuring payment.
This 4 week module will take place every Monday for 3hours each
day. A Professional photo-shoot, with a guest celebrity photographer, makeup artist, and fashion stylist will be provided.
(This class will be held on location and students will have to provide their own models) Certificate of Completion and take home packet with informational handout.

Each Month, new information will be provided, for those students who would like to further their education. Students can look forward to future classes with different haircut and color trends, product updates and an array of extension techniques.

Student Price $200 (student credentials required and Student credit vouchers provided.) (advanced pay) $175
Stylists are asked to bring combs, shears, razors and texturizers, clippers, clips blow dryers and styling tools (irons etc…)
